Platelet-Rich Plasma

A quick, in-office procedure that uses your body’s own regeneration mechanism – a natural “super-booster” for many treatments.

What is Platelet-Rich Plasma?

PRP is a high concentration of platelets surrounded in its own plasma. A small amount of blood is drawn and the red cells are isolated from the platelet-rich plasma by a centrifuge. Since the autologous Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is processed from the patient’s own blood, there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction or rejection.

How does it work?

Your platelets release growth factors and cytokines that tell your stem cells to proliferate.  This can allow for an increase in tissue repair and decrease in inflammation in the scalp as well as increased collagen production in the skin.

Treatments

We recommend 3 or 4 treatments at monthly intervals, followed by maintenance treatments every 6 months. (quarterly for more advanced cases). Most patients see an increase in thickness (existing hair) by 60-90%. Studies show regrowth up to 30% (dormant hair). Patients will notice better retention first, then start to see changes in photos in 3-6 months. Patients may also see some color improvements. There is very little risk of any reactions or side effects.

Blood-Derived Growth Factors

The internal essense of your blood contains life-giving fundamental protein growth factors. PRP utilizes a leading-edge, patented technology that is specifically designed. With a simple, quick and advantageous process, your PRP professional is able to derive a high concentration of biological nutrient-rich cells and create autologous platelet-rich plasma.

The procatitioner draws an amount of blood similar to what is required for a basic lab test.

The practitioner places the blood into a centrifuge and spins the blood at a very rapid rate to separate the platelets from the other compounds of the blood.

The platelet-rich plasma is activated to release at least eight essential growth factors and signaling proteins. Platelet-rich plasma is a technology that deploys aspects of blood-based biochemistry. Because all constitutes retreived in PRP are exclusively from the patient there is virtually no risk of intolerance.
